Is there a recommended depth the optical cable should be burried in a residential yard? I understand it should not cause any harm like electrical wires but when when you bury a cable at such a shallow depth across the yard there is a very high chance of it getting damanged, for example when some one aerates the yard. I am concerned about the depth the cable is burried. Hopefully I will know what exactly happened when the ATT technician comes to repair. Interestingly, internet and TV started working (somewhat temperamentally) once I pulled up the optical cable! Now the red alarm light has disappeared. In the meantime, I noticed the cable was burried only about 1-2 inches below the surface and I could easily pull up the fiber optic cable and there were no obvious damages. The fiber 'modem' NCON has some indicator lights on it that can be off, red, yellow, or green.
